01Who we are

LC Marine Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 12827996, registered office Rope House, Rope Walk, Littlehampton, West Sussex, BN17 5DH.

Our workshop is Unit 3, Birdham Shipyard, Birdham Pool Marina, Chichester, PO20 7BG, and we also work out of Littlehampton Yacht Club. You can reach us on 01243 345093 or info@lcmarine.co.uk.

02What we collect

We only hold information you give us, or that we generate in the course of doing the work:

• Enquiries and bookings — your name, email address, phone number, the boat or engine involved, the location, and whatever you tell us in your message.
• Customers — job records, service history, parts fitted, invoices and payment records, and where relevant your berth or mooring location.
• Job applications — your name, contact details, experience and qualifications, plus anything in a CV you send us.
• Correspondence — emails, texts and messages between us, so we have a record of what was agreed.
• Basic technical data — our hosting provider records standard server information such as IP address and browser type for security and to keep the site running.

We do not ask for, and would rather you did not send us, any special category data (health, and so on). We do not knowingly collect information about children.

03Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We do not send marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not sell, rent or trade your details to anyone. If that ever changes, we will ask you first.

04Who we share it with

Only the suppliers we need to run the business, and only so far as they need it:

• Netlify — hosts this website and passes enquiry form submissions to our inbox.
• Google (Workspace / Gmail) — our email.
• Wix — operates our online engine shop at shop.lcmarine.co.uk.
• Our accountant, payment providers and, where a job requires it, manufacturers or parts suppliers — for example when registering a warranty on a new engine.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK, or store data outside it. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

05How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become jobs — up to 24 months, then deleted.
• Customer job and service records — 6 years after the last job, so we can support warranty claims and meet accounting requirements.
• Invoices and financial records — 6 years, as HMRC requires.
• Job applications — 6 months after the role is filled, unless you are happy for us to keep your details on file, in which case 12 months.

06Cookies & this website

This website does not use cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no tracking and no profiling on lcmarine.co.uk — which is why you are not being asked to accept or reject anything when you arrive. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, a consent banner is required when a site sets non-essential cookies or similar technologies. This one does not set any.

If we ever add analytics or anything similar, we will put a proper consent banner in place before we switch it on, and update this page.

07The online shop

Our engine shop at shop.lcmarine.co.uk runs on Wix, which is a separate platform to this website. It has its own cookies, its own checkout and its own cookie notice, and Wix acts as our processor for orders placed there. Anything you buy through the shop is also covered by the shop's own terms and returns policy.

08Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
• delete information we no longer have a good reason to keep;
• restrict how we use it, or object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests;
• transfer it to another provider, where that applies.

Just email info@lcmarine.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month. There is no charge.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

09Security & changes to this notice

This site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to enquiries, job records and accounts is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect, but we take looking after your details as seriously as we take looking after your engine.

If this notice changes, the new version goes up on this page with a fresh date at the top.
